Senior Living Facility Charts Massive Expansion In Groton

GROTON, CT — A senior living facility is planning a significant expansion of 265 units across two new buildings.

Fairview has secured $304 million for the expansion, which is dubbed Vista Point.

"The project advances a long-term vision to expand residential options, enhance amenities, and strengthen the community's continuum of care for current and future residents," according to a press release.

The funding for the project was issued through the Connecticut Health and Educational Facilities Authority.

The residential community is located on about 70 acres at 235 Lestertown Road. Currently, it offers 40 independent living cottages, 20 apartments and 100 skilled nursing beds.

The Vista Point expansion marks the third phase of plan that will transform Fairview into "a full-service continuing care retirement community," according to the statement.

The expansion includes approximately 568,000 square feet of new development, adding 175 independent living residences at Vista Point and 18 independent living residences in the Horizon building, along with 44 assisted living and 28 memory support residences.

Plans also call for additional amenities including dining venues, a salt-water pool, a performing arts space, a library, a serenity room, a beauty salon, a golf simulator, fitness facilities, pickleball and tennis courts, walking trails and residential storage.

The project will begin construction now that financing is secured, with initial occupancy of independent living residences expected to begin in spring 2028.
