UPDATED: Shays Press Conference Moved Indoors

UPDATE 11:25 a.m.: The Shays press conference set for 12:15 p.m. has been moved inside because of the weather. It will not be at Submarine Veterans Club, 40 School St., Groton.

Christopher Shays, Republican candidate for United States Senate, is making the rounds in Groton today, and his first stop was this morning as the first shift reported for work at

The candidate is , his spokeswoman said.

In addition to the 6 a.m. shift, Shays will be at the EB gates for the 3 p.m. shift to speak with workers, the spokeswoman said. He was a guest on the Lee Elci radio show on 94.9 FM at 7:45 and then will be meeting with Groton Mayor Heather Somers.

A press conference is scheduled at the overlook at 12:15, and Somers, Former State Sen. Cathy Cook, and some EB employees will be there, as well as a few others, the spokeswoman said. Check back with Patch for more coverage later today.
