State Approves $60K For Groton Boathouse Repairs

The State Bond Commission recently approved funds for a "major facelift" for the Groton Boathouse.

GROTON, CT — The Groton Boathouse received approval for $60,000 in improvements from the State Bond Commission.

The following statement from State Reps. Christine Conley (D-Groton, New London) and Aundré Bumgardner (D- Groton, Stonington) includes more information on the project:

State Representatives Christine Conley (D-Groton, New London) and Aundré Bumgardner (D- Groton, Stonington) today celebrated the State Bonding Commission’s approval of $60k for repairs to the Groton Boathouse.

“This boathouse is in need of a major facelift, and that’s exactly what this project will do,” Rep. Conley said. “This may be a small endeavor, but it is little upgrades like this that add up and make our community so wonderful. Thank you to Governor Lamont and the State Bonding Commission for their approval of these funds and their support of Groton.”

Funds will go toward repairs such as removing exterior paint and repainting, removing, and replacing old shingles as needed.

“This funding is key to repair the Town of Groton's historic boathouse on Beebe Cove in Noank, and we thank Governor Lamont and the State Bond Commission for supporting our request. Projects like this bring people together on our waters and foster a sense of pride in our community,” said Rep. Bumgardner. "As a member of the Finance, Revenue, Bonding Committee, and its General Obligation Bonding Subcommittee, I worked closely with my committee leadership and Rep. Conley to advocate for this funding. I am grateful for the amazing teamwork with Town Manager John Burt, Director Mark Berry, Chuck Toal, and our Community Rowing Club!"

Rep. Conley represents the 40th District, which includes Groton and New London. Rep. Bumgardner represents the 41st District, which includes Groton and Stonington.
