State Trooper Punches Man In Face For Making Fun Of Him: Groton Police

A state trooper charged with punching a man in the face allegedly told police he did it because the victim made fun of him.

GROTON, CT - A state trooper charged with punching a man in the face allegedly told police he did it because the victim made fun of him, the New London Day reported. Police said the incident occurred Saturday at a Mystic bar.

Police said the suspect, 52-year-old Jeffrey Meninno of Waterford, was at Chapter One Fine Food and Drink when the incident occurred, according to the New London Day. Meninno allegedly punched the victim three times in the face after he made fun of the suspect. (To sign up for Groton breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

State police said they have suspended Meninno's police powers pending the outcome of the investigation, the New London Day reported. The victim had to be taken to see specialists at Yale New Haven Hospital for his injuries, police said.
