STEPS To Host Young Women’s Leadership Conference In Groton

Author, entrepreneur and Connecticut native Shakia Seabrook will deliver the keynote address.

From S.T.E.P.S. Inc: Shakia Seabrook, a speaker, author, entrepreneur, and Connecticut native, will deliver the keynote address at S.T.E.P.S. Inc.’s 2nd Annual Young Women’s Leadership Conference. The conference, a unique event for girls grades 8 - 12, helps girls develop and learn the skills necessary to achieve their dreams. Seabrook’s address on turning challenges into strengths will close out a day of fun activities and workshops to help attendees make informed decisions, define personal success, create balance in their lives, communicate their viewpoints, and more.

Ms. Seabrook will also speak to adults at the new adults-only session for parents, guardians, educators, and community organizations focused on youth empowerment. Ms. Seabrook’s topic for adults will be the power of sharing your personal story. She will be joined at the adults only session by Dr. Leah Russack-Baker who will focus on the importance of having and being a role model. The conference will take place on Saturday, October 13th at the UCONN Avery Point Campus, 1084 Shennecossett Rd. Groton, Connecticut. The cost of the conference for girls in grades 8 - 12 is $25.00 and includes admission to keynote address, choice of two (2) workshop sessions, breakfast, and lunch.

This year, an adult session has been added from 9am-noon for $10.00. Combined registration for one (1) girl and one (1) parent or guardian is $30.00. A limited number of scholarships are available for the event.
