Suspicious Package Found At Groton Shopping Center: Police
Police responded to a call over the weekend regarding a suspicious package found in a shopping center's parking lot.
GROTON, CT — Police responded to a call for a suspicious item found in a shopping center's parking lot. The report came in at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
Police arrived and found the package "based on its appearance and placement, was considered to be of a suspicious nature necessitating further investigation."
Long Hill Road was closed from the intersection of Drozdyk Drive to the intersection of Meridian Street Extension.

Members of the Connecticut State Police Emergency Services Unit’s Bomb Squad arrived to assist police. Squad members used specialized equipment approach and aspect the device. The device was not explosive or a threat to public safety.
Police removed the item and transported it to Groton Police Headquarters, where investigation continues.

No injuries were reported. The scene was cleared and traffic resumed at about 4:30 p.m.
