Toy Chicken In Noose Found In State Worker's Office: Report

State officials said they are investigating reports of 'racially insensitive incidents' after the toy was found in a state worker's office.

TORRINGTON, CT — State officials said they are investigating reports of "racially insensitive incidents," which a state senator said included a noose looped around the head of a toy chicken being found in the office of an African-American worker at the Department of Developmental Services regional office in Torrington, according to media reports.

According to Fox 61, Department of Development Services officials said they are "actively investigating" the reports. In an email to employees, the department's commissioner said all allegations of this nature are taken "very seriously."

According to the Hartford Courant, State Sen. Heather Somers (Republican-Groton) said she was told complaints about the incident have been lodged internally with DDS supervisors. She also said the worker may have questioned or pushed back against certain DDS practices or policies.
