Traveling Hopscotch

Another In A Summer-Long Series Of Things To Do With The Kids

Tape several pieces of construction paper together to make a grid, and fill a sandwich bag with beans or pasta (I used pasta) to make the beanbag.

Toss and hop.

I use a straight line and help my preschoolers learn by placing letter flash cards on each square. When they toss the bag they have to hop to that square and tell me what the letter or number is.

When they get it right, they can go again; wong they have to go back to the previous square. As they get older, we use multiplication and division flash cards. Whoever gets to the end first wins.

This is fun to play at home, and is an excellent diversion to bring with you on vacation.
