Uncasville Man Arrested For Groton Robbery: Police

A man was arrested in connection with a robbery in Groton last year, according to police.

GROTON, CT — A man has been charged in connection with a robbery last year, according to police. Anthony McCants, 34, of Uncasville, was charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree breach of peace, first-degree failure to appear, and three counts of second-degree failure to appear.

Groton Town police responded to a call at about 7:15 p.m. Dec. 3 reporting a robbery at the Henny Penny at 1270 Gold Star Highway. A suspect entered the business, brandished a knife, and demanded money, according to police.

The suspect then left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash and fled in a vehicle before police arrive. No injuries were reported.

The Criminal Investigation Division responded and continued the investigation, later identifying the suspect as Anthony McCants.

Police found McCants and took him into custody on an arrest warrant Tuesday. McCants was also wanted on four other warrants, according to police.

McCants was held on $245,000 bond pending his arraignment at New London Superior Court.
