UPDATE: U.S. Naval Submarine Base Lockdown Lifted
A suspicious vehicle near the main gate has been detected.

Update: SUB BASE Update: No threat determined, Base re-opened, according to Naval Base Submarine New London’s Facebook page.
Posted at 2:50 p.m. At approx. 11:55 a.m., this morning, Naval Submarine Base New London public safety and security teams responded to a report of suspicious vehicle activity near the base’s Main Gate.
The base increased security measures in accordance with the established protocol relating to this suspected threat; and base public safety and security teams responded to to the scene, placed the base in lockdown, and are investigating and evaluating.

Also, in accordance with the established protocol measures, local authorities have been notified.
Base access will be restricted until further notice. Gate 1 is open to allow out-bound traffic to exit.
