Music in New London, Sun WineFest, the-e-fair

New London Music Events

Make time for some music this weekend! Friday at the United States Coast Guard Academy, the Coast Guard Band Woodwind Quintet will play the Suite in G Minor at noon. Later that day at Connecticut College, the Cummings Arts Center will host a New Music Faculty Showcase at 7 p.m. featuring faculty playing the violin, cello and euphonium. On Sunday, the New London County American Guild of Organists Children’s Choir will perform their 12th-annual Children’s Choir Festival at the Second Congregational Church from 4 to 5 p.m. Also that day, enjoy an “Afternoon of Brass” at the John C. Evans Hall at Connecticut College’s Cummings Arts Center at 1 p.m.

It’s time for some wine at Mohegan Sun this weekend! Friday through Sunday, the casino will hold the 2011 Sun WineFest, benefitting the American Diabetes Association, the Connecticut Sports Foundation and Channel 3 Kids Camp. Events range from the Grand Tasting, to the Celebrity Chef Dine Around to the WineFest Grape Stomp! Check online for ticket availability for various events.

All this snow got you feeling down? Hit up the-e-fair in Waterford this Saturday! Your winter worries will melt away while shopping at the Insane Insidewalk Sale, featuring merchandise from more than 30 Shoreline shops and designers! Great food will be on hand from favorites The Cupcake Truck, River Tavern, Liv’s Oyster Bar and more. The day’s events, sponsored by the-e-list, also include performances by Barefoot Truth and Rene Lopez. There will be plenty of fun for the family, too—photo booths, crafts and henna tattoos! The day runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will be held at Sonalysts Studios. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for teens and free for kids.
