123 Firearms Collected In Gun Buy Back To 'Keep Kids Safe': PD
Working with the Ethan Miller Song Foundation, Guilford police traded gift cards, gun safes for firearms in the voluntary buy-back program.

GUILFORD, CT — One hundred twenty-three firearms.
Yes, 123 weapons including 70 handguns, 53 rifles/shotguns, two assault-type weapons, eight BB/pellet guns and assorted ammunition were voluntarily turned in to police Saturday as part of the statewide Keep Kids Safe initiative.
The Guilford Police Department in cooperation and collaboration with the Ethan Miller Song Fund, conducted the third annual voluntary gun buy-back and safe firearm storage event at the police department. The goal was to help remove unwanted firearms from the community, while also providing safe gun storage options in the form of free gun safes to citizens interested in safe and responsible storage options for their firearms.

And in exchange for turning in a firearm, citizens received Visa gift cards: $25 for a single/double shot derringer type weapon; $50 for a rifle/shotgun; $100 for a handgun, and $200 for an assault weapon. And dozens of gun safes were distributed as well.
Residents are also reminded that they can turn in unwanted weapons for destruction to Guilford Police Department at any time.
