GUILFORD, CT — The Board of Selectmen last week unanimously approved up to $40,000 to fix a septic system failure at Sachem's Hollow.
The town will utilize American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding for the work.
A leak was noticed in one of the facility's tanks during an annual cleaning, according to Gloria Nemczuk, chair of the Guilford Housing Authority. The Housing Authority received three quotes for the replacement of all three tanks ranging from $35,000 to $38,000.

Hoey said he felt the situation was a good use of ARPA funds since the money would be used for an infrastructure improvement.
Nemczuk said the repair would deplete Housing Authority funds, as the roof at Boston Terrace still needs to be fixed.

According to minutes associated with the Board of Selectmen meeting, there is a possibility the board could apply for additional funding if needed.
