Administrative Assistant To Guilford Health Department Earns Employee Award

The award program started by First Selectman Matt Hoey recognizes town employees for outstanding achievement and performance.

GUILFORD, CT — First Selectman Matt Hoey has announced that Administrative Sssistant to the Health Department Darka Lindgren has been named as a recipient of the Guilford Employee Recognition Award.

Hoey, who started the program program, has encouraged all town employees to nominate fellow employees to be recognized for outstanding achievement and performance in their work.

The Employee Recognition Awards Committee selected Lindgren, who was nominated by Health Director Sonia Brinckwirth and endorsed by several other employees.

Brinckwirth nominated Lindgren for her role in assisting over 200 residents in making vaccination appointments, learning and consequently training fellow employees to navigate both the MUNIS and EnerGov systems, and serving as a leader for less experienced administrative assistants working in Town Hall South.

Water Pollution Control Authority (WPCA) Chair Larry Marcik, said he supports Lindgren, as she has been involved with WPCA for decades, taking the minutes, and being responsive to the committee for all of their needs.

WPCA Coordinator Huda Shraiki added that she is inspiring and a great employee to work with.

Fire Chief Charles Herrschaft and Police Chief Chris Massey also endorsed Lindgren for this recognition.

"She has been the go-to person at the Health Department for many years and always willing to help," said Herrschaft in a news release.

Massey said that he has worked with Lindgren regularly over the years and that she "has put the best interests of the town at the top of her priority list. Whenever we reach out to her for assistance, she goes above and beyond to accommodate our request and/or offer alternative solutions that are more appropriate based on her years of experience in the Town of Guilford."

Lindgren has been with the Town of Guilford since 2002. She received an Employee Recognition Award certificate as well as a gift card and a Ninja Blender from Hoey in recognition of her achievements.
