After Additional Cuts, Date Set For 2nd Budget Referendum In Guilford

GUILFORD, CT — Guilford residents will head to the polls on May 19 for a second time to vote on the proposed 2026-2027 budget.

A second Town Budget Meeting is scheduled for the week prior on Tuesday, May 12, at 7:30 p.m. at Guilford High School.

Following the rejection of the proposed budget last month, the Guilford Board of Finance voted unanimously to cut $750,000 — $525,000 from the Board of Education side, and $225,000 from the Board of Selectmen side.

The revised budget now totals $128,663,203, which would result in a proposed mill rate of 28.60, an increase of 3.44 percent.

According to the town, for a homeowner with a home assessed at $500,000, their property tax bill would increase by about $475.

• District 1 - Calvin Leete School, 280 South Union St.
• District 2 - Abraham Baldwin Middle School, 68 Bullard Drive
• District 3 - Guilford Fire Department Headquarters - 390 Church St.
• District 4 - Melissa Jones School, 181 Ledge Hill Road
• District 5 - A.W. Cox School, 143 Three Mile Course

The polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
