Amani was recognized for her leadership and advocacy efforts at Guilford High School and in the community. She has served for three years as a student representative to the Guilford Board of Education and founded and led a community-based BIPOC Affinity Group. She also served as a lead organizer of the annual Multicultural Festival for two years and helped develop and perform in a community Juneteenth celebration as a sophomore.

In addition to her leadership roles, Amani has participated in GHS Voices, the school's theater department and the Shoreline Soul gospel music group, according to GPS.

"Through her sustained advocacy, civic engagement, and
creative contributions, Kyra exemplifies the highest standards of student leadership," GPS said in an announcement.
