GUILFORD, CT — The Connecticut Department of Transportation will hold a virtual public information meeting on July 9 to present plans to replace the Twin Bridge Road bridge over Iron Stream in Guilford, according to a notice from the town.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will provide residents with an overview of the proposed project, followed by a question-and-answer session. According to the project description, the replacement is intended to improve safety for all roadway users by constructing a new bridge structure. Right-of-way impacts are not anticipated.

Construction is expected to begin in spring 2029, depending on funding, right-of-way acquisitions and permits. The estimated cost of the project is $5 million, with 80% of the funding expected to come from the federal government and the remaining 20% from the state.

Residents may submit comments and questions during a two-week public comment period following the meeting. The deadline to provide feedback is July 23.

Direct comments and questions can be submitted to DOT-FLBP@ct.gov, 860-594-2020, or Michelle Rame at Michelle.Rame@ct.gov or 860-594-3319.

A recording of the meeting will be posted afterward on CTDOT's public meeting playlist, and non-English closed captioning will be available on YouTube. Audio-only access and language assistance will also be available.
