Guilford Selectmen To Review Sidewalk Contracts, Flood Control Funding, Fire Boat Project

GUILFORD, CT — The Guilford Board of Selectmen is scheduled to consider several infrastructure and capital improvement items Monday, including contracts for sidewalk repairs, funding for flood control projects and upgrades to the town's marine fire unit.

The meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 20, at 8:30 a.m. at 31 Park St. and will be held in a hybrid format, with in-person and Microsoft Teams participation available.

The agenda includes a public forum at the beginning of the meeting for comments on agenda items and a second public forum near the end of the meeting for comments on any issue.

Among the agenda items, the board is expected to discuss and take possible action on a project to repower the Fire Department Marine Unit.

The selectmen are also scheduled to consider awarding an on-call sidewalk construction contract to William M. Laydon Construction LLC, and authorizing a $75,000 contract with the company for sidewalk repairs and handicap ramp replacements.

The board also may allocate $130,364 in Local Capital Improvement Program (LOCIP) funds for dams, bridges and flood control projects.

Additional business includes possible action on the eighth amendment to the Town of Guilford Employees' Pension Plan, a food scrap collection service agreement with Blue Earth Compost and the formation of a working group on insurance costs.

The selectmen are also scheduled to consider setting a Town Meeting for Sept. 15 at Guilford High School.
