Guilford To Mark International Overdose Awareness Day With Community Event

The free event aims to address overdose, reduce stigma and support those struggling with overdose-related loss.

GUILFORD, CT — A community event marking International Overdose Awareness Day will be held later this month on the Guilford Town Green.

Guilford Overdose Awareness Day is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 31, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The free event is intended to bring the community together to take action on overdose, reduce stigma and provide a safe space for those struggling with overdose-related loss.

Local partners will be on hand to honor those who have died and provide resources for people who are struggling.

The event will feature local resources, the Stashed Away trailer, a remembrance tree, pizza, activities for children and more.

Partners listed for the event include Alliance for Prevention & Wellness, BHcare, The Connection, Aware Recovery Care, Beth-El Center, Project Courage, Guardian Recovery, APT Foundation, Waterstone, ROOT Center for Advanced Recovery, Ripple, Shatterproof and Narcotics Anonymous, among others.
