Beloved Guilford Farm To Close After 60 Years In Business

GUILFORD, CT — Strawberry Hollow Farm, a beloved farm in Guilford, announced it will be closing after 60 years in business.

It was not immediately clear when the last day of operation will be.

The description of the farm on its Facebook page now reads: "A beloved New England gem in Guilford, Connecticut that delighted generations of families for over 60 years before closing its doors in 2026."

The farm was founded in 1966 by Harvey and Diane Smith and has grown into a beloved tradition for local residents and tourists.

"For generations, families visited the farm to celebrate the season, choose pumpkins and mums, shop for gifts, and create lasting memories together," the farm said in an announcement on social media on Sunday.

"As we close this chapter, our hearts are filled with gratitude for the customers, friends, neighbors, and community members who supported us throughout the years.

"Your loyalty, kindness, and shared traditions made Strawberry Hollow Farm far more than a farm. It became a special place filled with memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you for being part of our story and allowing us to be part of yours."

Residents flocked to the comments to express sadness at the closure and share memories of visiting the farm, which is located at 2171 Boston Post Road.

Some residents even shared photos of past visits.

"Saying goodbye to one of our favorite family traditions will be hard. We began coming after the birth of my first son to buy the pumpkins, pick out some fall decorations and of course take family photos on your beautiful property," one commenter posted.

"We have not missed a season in 20 years and are so grateful for the memories. Strawberry Hollow Farm has been a touch of small town New England nostalgia and you will be dearly missed. Thank you. We are grateful for the family memories you helped create over the years."

Another resident thanked the Smiths "for creating a place that brought so much joy and beauty to every fall season."

"Visiting your shop became a tradition that I always looked forward to," the comment said. "Thank you for the memories, the smiles, and for sharing your passion with our community for so many years. Wishing you and your family good health, happiness, and many blessings as you begin this new chapter. You will be deeply missed, but the memories you created will always remain in our hearts."
