Bishop's Orchards In Guilford Completes 2nd Major Solar Project
Munger Construction completes second project at Bishop's and orchard's energy consumption is now more than three-quarters completely solar.

GUILFORD, CT - Bishop's Orchards in Guilford recently completed its second major solar project. Both were done by Pat Munger Construction Co. and means that 80 percent of Bishop's annual energy consumption will be solar generated.
The new 360 kW installation was performed with collaboration between Munger’s sustainable energy partner, Independence Solar.
The completion of the 360 kW ground mounted array marks Munger’s is now combined with the 120 kW rooftop array installed in August.

Energy produced from the panels will help to cover costs associated with farm refrigeration needs and the onsite market, ultimately preventing 12,000 tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere over the life of the projects.
“As longtime stewards of the environment and healthy eating for the community, this is a proud moment in our family business history to reduce energy costs and lower our carbon footprint,” said Keith Bishop, Co-CEO at Bishop’s Orchards. “We’ve already seen significant benefits from the rooftop system and are excited that the ground-mounted installation will produce over 6000,000 kWh annually to push us further toward energy independence.”
