Boy, 16, Charged With Felony Robbery In Purse Snatching: Police

A woman had her purse "forcibly" snatched in the Shoreline Plaza Sept. 4. Police charged a teen with several offenses, including robbery.

GUILFORD, CT — Police charged a teen with a number of offenses related to a purse-snatching at Shoreline Plaza on Sept. 4.

A juvenile male, Guilford Police Deputy Chief Christopher Massey said, "forcibly stole the victim's purse while the victim was returning to her vehicle in the parking lot."

The woman suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene, he said.

Massey said that by "working in close partnership" with local police departments, Guilford investigators "quickly developed a suspect" and an arrest warrant was secured.

Wednesday, a 16-year-old boy was taken into custody and charged with second-degree robbery, third-degree larceny. conspiracy to commit second-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny and criminal attempt at payment card theft.

The teen was remanded to custody at the Bridgeport Juvenile Detention Center awaiting arraignment.

Guilford police"remind all residents to remain vigilant, report suspicious activity" by calling (203) 453-8061. "And, as always, lock your cars and keep valuables out of sight," Massey said.
