Centuries Old Massachusetts Tavern Moves To Guilford

The old Woodbury Tavern was recently loaded onto trucks and moved south.

GUILFORD, CT — A 200-year-old tavern from Southborough, Massachusetts has found a new home in Guilford, reports the MetroWest Daily News.

The nine-room tavern had been broken down into pieces and stored in a barn for years before it and its plans were sold to Bill Butterly, who intends to reassemble the historic structure and use it as a home on his property in Guilford. The piece were recently loaded onto trucks and moved from Massachusetts to Guilford.

Called the old Woodbury Tavern, the building will measure 24,000 square feet once constructed. Over the years, it housed the tavern, a store and a meat shop, among other uses.
