Community Groups Ready to WALK for Vista

Sunday, Oct. 30 in Madison.

A number of local community groups and organizations are gearing up to make an impact in the lives of individuals with disabilities, one step at a time, during the annual WALK for Vista in Madison on Oct. 30.

Teams from the Clinton Police Department and Madison’s Scranton Library are among the many organizations walking and fundraising for this important event, which benefits Vista Life Innovations, a post-secondary program based in Madison, Guilford and Westbrook that supports individuals with disabilities.

“I am proud to help support Vista, even in a small way, achieve their goals,” said Scranton Library Director Beth Crowley, captain of the Scranton Library team. “I have been absolutely blown away by the impact this organization has had on the lives of their students and members. The independence and skills that Vista fosters in them is seen every day in our community.”

Proceeds from the WALK benefit Vista's programs and services as well as the Ed Gallant Financial Aid Fund, which provides scholarship opportunities to Vista's students and members.

Starting and ending at Vista’s Madison Campus on Bradley Road, the WALK offers 3 and 5 mile routes through the heart of downtown Madison and along the shoreline. The event also includes raffle giveaways, team prizes, entertainment and more.

“This is a great community event,” said Officer Jason Frey, co-captain of the Clinton Police Department team. “I can guarantee you will walk away with a smile on your face when you meet the Vista members and know that your support is greatly impacting their lives.”

Other community organizations participating include Estuary Transit District, Madison Neighbors Magazine, SNAP Fitness of Clinton and Valley Shore YMCA.
