Community Meeting On Affordable Housing Plan Update Set For Oct. 18

The town hopes residents will attend the event on current & future plans for affordable, workforce housing via Zoom or at the Free Library.

GUILFORD, CT — Town Planner Jaime Stein hopes the community will attend, either in person or virtually, an update on the current and future plans for affordable, workforce housing in Guilford. The event is set for Oct. 18 at 6:30 p.m, at the Guilford Free Library or via Zoom.

In a letter to the community, Stein wrote: "In the past six months, the Town of Guilford has taken significant strides toward the study and creation of affordable, workforce housing in Town. In June, the Board of Selects voted to approve the Town’s first ever, Affordable Housing Plan, which was created in partnership with the South Central Regional Council of Governments."

The adopted plan can be found on the Planning & Zoning Department website.

"We have also seen progress on our existing and newly approved affordable housing developments," he noted.

At the Tuesday event, he said, residents will join members of Guilford’s Affordable Housing Committee and guests for updates on the Woodruff Affordable Housing, Memorial Estates and Great Hill Cottage Developments, as well as the town's newly adopted Affordable Housing Plan.
