"Nature K will allow for learning across all academic and social content areas in an immersive nature experience. Particular focus on fostering personal and environmental responsibility. Emphasis on play-based learning experiences and opportunities," she said. "This child-led (but teacher-facilitated) approach gives children ownership over their learning experience and deepens their understanding of subject matter that resonates with them. Nature K can be used as either a transitional K year, or a true K year, depending on the age and development of the child."

Here are some comments from participants at the event this week, Murgo shared.

Liz Kelly: "CNS Is very lucky to have such amazing educators. Our Nature School has been a resounding success thanks to director Rachel Daniels and Pre-K teacher Julia Souvlis. They have developed a one-of-a-kind program focused on play-based learning and exploring nature year-round. We are thrilled to expand the program this fall with our new Nature Kindergarten."
Heidi Outtrim: "In one word, nature school is magical. With 'only' nature as his classroom, our son has learned more about risk taking, problem-solving, cooperation and creativity than we could have imagined. The confidence and empathy he is developing in nature school has benefited our entire family."
Julia Souvlis : "Nature School takes place entirely outside and encourages children to learn about themselves and the world, with a focus on independence, confidence, and problem-solving, while fostering a respect for the environment. Nature School gives children an opportunity to grow and learn through exploration, inquiry and hands-on experimentation. Nature School continues to grow, and next year will offer programs for 3-6 year olds."
