Coronavirus Guilford: Social Distancing Failure Closes Dog Park

First Selectman says some people at the park aren't following the governor's COVID-19 social distancing order, so it was closed Monday.

GUILFORD, CT — First Selectman Matt Hoey said Monday that in consultation with Guilford health director Dennis Johnson, he has ordered that the town’s Dog Park on Nut Plains Road be closed "immediately."

Hoey said that "there have been concerns raised and evidence that it is occasionally impossible to maintain the best practices related to social distancing."

"While we are fully aware of the ramifications of the closing of this facility," Hoey said, "unfortunately, some residents still do not heed the recommendations and orders on social distancing."
