Several Hospitalized After Severe Crash In Madison: Police

Three vehicles were involved in the crash, and police said firefighters extricated the occupants of one of the vehicles.

MADISON, CT — Several people were hospitalized after a “severe” crash on Route 80 in Madison on Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

Madison police responded to a 911 call around 4:30 p.m. reporting a crash on Route 80 (Old Toll Road) in the area of Race Hill Road, according to Lt. Jeremy Yorke.

Yorke said in a news release that three vehicles were involved in a severe collision, “causing significant damage to the vehicles and injuring those inside.”

The North Madison Volunteer Fire Department responded and extricated the occupants of one of the vehicles, according to Yorke.

“Due to the nature of the injuries sustained, all persons involved in the accident were transported to Yale New Haven Hospital for immediate medical attention,” Yorke wrote in the news release.

It wasn’t immediately clear how many people were taken to the hospital.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Madison Police Department at 203-245-6500.

(Original post) GUILFORD, CT — Route 80 has reopened to traffic after a several hour closure Wednesday evening, according to an update from the Guilford Police Department.

The road was closed at the Madison town line due to a crash that occurred in Madison, police said. The closure was announced shortly before 4 p.m.
