Disabled Vessel Rescued By Guilford Firefighters, Marine Units: FD

Units responded to a fishing boat in distress off Vineyard Point on Sunday, the Guilford Fire Department said.

GUILFORD, CT — A disabled vessel off Vineyard Point on Long Island Sound was rescued Sunday by the Guilford Fire Department and marine units, the fire department said in a news release.

The anchor of a fishing vessel became entangled around its propeller, "creating an immediate danger due to rough sea conditions," the GFD said.

"Guilford Professional Firefighters utilized specialised tools, including a knife attached to a boat hook, to swiftly free the line from the prop," the GFD added. "After ensuring the vessel was safe, they escorted it back to the safety of Guilford Town Marina's boat launch."
