Earth Day Celebration Planned For Guilford Green
The celebration will highlight the many ways in which the community is responding to the climate crisis, the town said in a news release.

GUILFORD, CT — This year, which marks the 55th anniversary of the first Earth Day, the Guilford Conservation Commission and the Sustainable Guilford Task Force are co-sponsoring the second annual Earth Day celebration on the Guilford Green.
The celebration will take place on Sunday, May 4, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and will highlight the many ways in which the community is responding to the climate crisis, according to a news release from the town.

The theme for this year's celebration is "We're in This Together – Conservation and Community in a Climate-Changed World."
Participants and visitors will be able to enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities, including demonstrations of rescued raptors, electric vehicles, and heat pumps. Conservation groups from Guilford and Madison will have tables with information on how they are responding to the climate crisis. Local religious groups will have information on how they are practicing conservation and community.

The Leete's Island Garden Club will be giving away native tree seedlings, perennial seeds, and flower and vegetable seeds. Parks & Recreation will be hosting a table for families to plant seeds.
The Sustainable Guilford Task Force will feature a "Spin the Wheel" game for all ages and "Feed the Compost Worms" for kids.
There will be live music from the sound stage. State Sen. Christine Cohen and State Rep. Moira Rader will give brief presentations on the status of environmental legislation at this year's Connecticut General Assembly session.
