Friends of the Guilford Free Library are off exploring again! THE LITCHFIELD HILLS. Friday, October 19, 2012
Visitors have been coming to the Litchfield Hills for hundreds of years. The time-mellowed historic homes, romantic inns, imaginative shops, small museums, farms on rolling hills make this one of the 50 most scenic drives in the country according to National Geographic.
8:30 a.m. - leaving Guilford (from Exit 58 commuter lot). We will travel north and admire the foliage along the Housatonic River to reach I-84 and then through the charming villages of Southbury & Woodbury.

10:00 a.m. - reaching Bethlehem we will tour the Bellamy-Ferriday House & Garden. Opened to the public in 1994, the house was built by the founder of the first theological seminary in America.
12:00 p.m. - continuing north to Litchfield, what most experts consider the finest unrestored, unspoiled Colonial Town in the country, we will take an hour to explore the lovely Green, its shops, cafes and small museums.

1:00 p.m. - lunch at La Cupola Ristorante & Inn. Menu choices: chicken marsala; eggplant parmigiana; tilapia piccata or pork loin (includes salad, dessert, coffee.)
2:30 p.m. - continuing south to New Preston we will visit Hopkins Vineyard on the north shore of Lake Waramaug. We will be treated to tastings and tour.
4:00 p.m. - continuing toward Guilford we will pass through Roxbury, Oxford & Seymour.
6:00 p.m. - approximately arrive in Guilford.
$76.00 fee includes transportation, lunch, Bellamy-Ferriday entry & tour, driver gratuity and homebound water.

Full payment required by Check (made out to Friends of the Library) or Credit Card.Friends reserve the right to cancel should there be insufficient registrations.
