Fire Dept. Sponsoring CT Safe Boater/Small Watercraft Operation Course
This Saturday from 9 -5, GFD hosts a class that qualifies for a certificate to allow a person to operate a water craft of up to 65 feet.
GUILFORD, CT — The Guilford Fire Department is sponsoring a CT Safe Boating /Personal Watercraft Operations Class, Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Per the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, these classes are at least 8 hours long and range between two and four sessions. Once completed, the combined class qualifies a person for the Certificate of Personal Watercraft Operation through the Online Sportsmen Licensing System. There's a $50 fee for the certificate. With that, a person can operate any recreational vessel up to 65 feet, including a personal watercraft.
Please check age restrictions for operating vessels with engines greater than 10 horsepower and personal watercraft.
