Florence Verdumen Has Spent Half A Century In Service To Guilford

GUILFORD, CT — Tuesday was Florence Verdumen’s birthday. Many in Guilford, indeed, generations of locals, have interacted with her. For 50 years, she's been a gymnastics instructor, in addition to others roles, for Guilford Parks and Recreation.

Tuesday, she was "surprised when her daughter showed up to class" along with First Selectman Matt Hoey, who presented her with a plaque and gift card in front of her current students.

Joined by some residents and Parks and Rec staff, she was also presented with a birthday cake, which she shared with everyone.
