Community Corner

Foodies for Charity

27 talented amateur chefs unite to raise money for Shoreline families in crisis on October 16 at the 22nd Men Who Cook Fundraising Gala.

One of the Shoreline’s premier benefit galas, Men Who Cook, is returning to the Guilford Yacht Club on Sunday, October 16. It attracts over 200 prominent and influential community members, business leaders, and patrons.

Honorary Chair Nick Rawlings, a computer technology pioneer, has been a staunch supporter of Men Who Cook from the very beginning and only missed one event in 22 years! Whether they are new to the event or long-time veterans, all chefs are dedicated to helping their Shoreline neighbors and stand behind the mission of the Women & Family Life Center.

Celebrity Chef Ric Orlando, a Food Network champion and recent winner of ‘Beat Bobby Flay’, will emcee the event and use his culinary expertise to judge the chef competitions. Ric has appeared over a dozen times on NBC’s Today Show and PBS. Ric’s Restaurants in the Hudson Valley have won numerous awards including Best Restaurant, Best American and Best International.

"All women, mothers & families deserve a helping hand, a shoulder to cry on, an opportunity to stand
up for themselves. All too often, someone's life takes an unexpected turn, a right instead of a left. I am
honored to support the Women & Family Life Center whose aim is to get that individual's life back on
track with such compassion and love." - Chef John DellaVentura

This year, Women & Family Life Center celebrates its 25th Anniversary of helping local families facing challenges, crises, and life transitions with grace and dignity.
