GHS Music Presents Concert To Benefit Meals On Wheels Wednesday

The free 7:30 p.m. performance includes the school's Jazz, Voices, and Wind ensembles, with proceeds from refreshments going to MOW.

GUILFORD, CT — The 28th annual Guilford High School concert to benefit Meals on Wheels is set for Wednesday, 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., in the high school's Performing Arts Center.

The concert is free, but donations will be accepted at the door. Proceeds from refreshments will also go to Meals on Wheels, a nonprofit that delivers meals to seniors, disabled people or anyone unable to prepare their own meals at home.

Slated to perform are the music department's select Jazz Ensemble, Voices Ensemble, and Wind Ensemble.

According to Guilford Interfaith's Meals on Wheels program director Christ Burton, the Jazz Ensemble will perform the music of Benny Carter, Duke Ellington and Count Basie, among others.

The Voices Ensemble will share pieces ranging from the Renaissance to Broadway, and the Wind Ensemble will feature music inspired by dance.
