Guilford Business News: Restaurants Opening, Overnight Pet Boarding Facility in the Works and More

A look at recent business news in the town of Guilford.

The following information is from the September Guilford Economic Development Commission meeting minutes. Officials at that meeting provided a detailed update about new business activities in town.

New Business Activity - Southern CT Gas – opening a satellite location in Guilford (Long Hill Road – Larkins Property) for faster response during storms and outages for customers on this side of the Q Bridge.

ONYX (retail store)– returned to Guilford from Madison, opened next to Perk on Church.

Carson’s on Whitfield (restaurant) – OPENING soon!!

Indian Restaurant – going into former Anna’s Temptation site, going through Wetlands approval due to need to expand septic system.

Whitfield Design LLC – a kitchen/bath showroom, going into former Merriano’s Bakery (1200 BPR).

Metro Pooch – proposing a Zoning Amendment at P & Z on 9/7, to allow overnight pet boarding (primarily dogs and cats), targeting the open land on Soundview to build a new facility.

U Haul – (former Mannix site) still working on design concepts to present to Design Review Committee. Operating “as is” from existing front showroom space.

Fonicello’s site – construction well underway for the Patriot Medical Center ( 2 – 20K sf office buildings).

The Mews (Former Guilford Tavern) – have received a variance to allow 14 condos (12 by Zoning) in a TS 2 Zone (6 units per acre).

Shoreline Ballet – opened a dance studio at 1795 BPR (3rd floor - above the Vet location)
