Guilford Commons Grand Opening Approaching; Another Retailer Announced

The project will be anchored by The Fresh Market, Bed Bath & Beyond, and more.

The latest update on the Guilford Commons project:

DDR and Guilford town officials will conduct a grand opening ceremony in early November. The public is welcome to attend. The event will consist of a ribbon cutting ceremony and brief remarks from DDR and local officials. Complimentary light refreshments and small gifts will be available to members of the community. More details will be available in the coming weeks.

Some retailers are likely to conduct soft openings prior to the November grand opening event. For specifics on opening dates, please contact representatives from each retailer.

Charming Charlie has signed a lease to occupy 5,000 square feet at Guilford Commons. Charming Charlie debuted in 2004 and is a women’s accessories retailer, offering jewelry, handbags, eyewear, scarves, shoes and more all grouped together by color. Charming Charlie offers thousands of accessories in one store. Guilford Commons represents Charming Charlie’s fourth location in Connecticut.

Jim Grafmeyer, vice president of development with DDR Corp. said, “We are proud to announce Guilford Commons’ much-anticipated grand opening event and we look forward to the shopping center providing great new retail options for Guilford-area shoppers.”

Additional background on Guilford Commons

•Guilford Commons is a 139,000-square foot shopping center located on Boston Post Road near exit 57 off of Interstate 95.

•In addition to the 5,000-square-foot Charming Charlie, the center will include the following tenants: The Fresh Market, Michaels, DSW, Ulta Beauty and Bed Bath & Beyond. Each of the preceding retailers will lease between approximately 10,000 square feet and 20,000 square feet. Additionally, we are in discussions with other national retailers to lease space at the center. Our policy is such that we do not disclose prospective tenant information in advance of final lease execution from all parties.

•Construction at Guilford Commons started in summer 2014 and is proceeding according to schedule.
