Guilford Coronavirus: 10,000 Medical Face Masks Are On The Way
First Selectman Matt Hoey has authorized an order of 10,000 medical face masks from a local company.
GUILFORD, CT — The Town is stocking up on face masks, following the tightening of regulations in the wake of the new coronavirus spread.
First Selectman Matt Hoey has authorized an order of 10,000 medical face masks from HMB Electronics, a North Haven based company. The masks will be made available to residents soon after receipt of the order, which is expected to be late next week, according to a news release. The order was placed on April 15.
"We have an immediate challenge of repackaging the masks from the bulk containers into quantities of two or five masks and how best to get them into the hands of our residents" Hoey said in the release. "I have already been in contact with the Guilford Cares grass roots organization, managing the Food Shopping for Seniors program, and they, along with town employees, are willing to put their resources to work on this opportunity."
