"Barry has been an essential help to the Parks and Recreation Department. On numerous occasions, he has come in on short notice to cover for a custodian who has called out sick. He has a servant’s attitude and is always available," Maynard said, according to an announcement from the town.
Erb has been an employee of the Guilford Parks and Recreation Department since March 2014, and has served in a variety of roles from commission member, basketball referee and parks ranger, to custodian, painter, landscaper and "overall utility team member."

"Over the years, I have had to call him at the last minute to cover a shift and his answer is always 'yes,'" Rake said in an announcement. "At times, if I am out of the building he may need to meet a contractor, plumber, HVAC Technician, or electrician and he always can get an answer if he does not know it himself. That is one of the reasons why we call him a utility team member because we never know what project or task will need to be completed."
Erb received an Employee Recognition Award certificate, a gift card, and an Apple Air Tag from Hoey.
