Guilford High Student Wore Blackface To Football Game

Local school officials issued an apology and say the incident was immediately addressed.

GUILFORD, CT — A Guilford High School student reportedly wore blackface to a football game Friday night, reports WTNH News 8. The student's photo appeared on social media prior to the start of the game.

Guilford school officials confirmed the incident saying it was quickly addressed and the student was ordered to remove the paint, News 8 reports.

Guilford school officials have apologized to the Hartford Public School System. Guilford played Hartford on Friday night.

Guilford Schools Superintendent Paul Freeman told Fox 61 that “This individual incident is unacceptable, it was addressed immediately, and we will continue to address it from an educational stance moving forward.”
