Guilford High Students Honored For Leadership, Service

The students were recognized for their leadership service to their school, academic prowess, and service to others in the community.

Guilford High School seniors Meredith Bloss and Noah Horton were honored at a luncheon on November 28th by the Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents. The students were recognized for their leadership service to their school, academic prowess, and service to others in the community.

Meredith Bloss has excelled both in and outside the classroom. She is a member of the National and Spanish Honor Societies and has been a constant recipient of high honors and numerous academic and advanced placement awards. Meredith has served the past two years as captain of the cross country and indoor track and field teams.

She has been selected as All State in the 1600 and 3200 and All New England in indoor track and field in the two mile, as well as SCC Runner of the Year and SCC Most Valuable Player. Meredith holds school records in both the 1600 and 3200 races. She is in the orchestra, concert band and jazz band. Meredith finds time throughout the year to volunteer in numerous ways in our community. Meredith would like to pursue degrees in physics and Spanish. She is considering attending Cornell, MIT or Amherst.

Noah Horton has been successful academically and in the numerous activities in which he is involved. He is a student in the high school’s International Baccalaureate Programme. He is a member of the GHS National Honor Society and French Honor Society, where he serves as Secretary.

He also serves as President of the school’s Student Senate. Noah is one of three student representatives to Guilford’s Board of Education and has represented the high school on the Later School Start Times Task Force and Dress Code Committee. He is a member of the swim team and captain of the tennis team. In the community, Noah volunteers with Special Olympics Connecticut and Habitat for Humanity. Noah would like to pursue a degree in
biochemistry. He is considering attending Brown, UCLA or Northeastern.
