Guilford Looks To Install Guardrail On Narrow Local Road

Guilford has received complaints about the road, and years ago a truck was involved in a rollover crash, according to meeting minutes.

GUILFORD, CT — The Guilford Board of Selectmen last week voted to contract with a fencing/construction company in the amount of $22,252 to add a guardrail on Rockland Road.

According to meeting minutes, the roadway, which is off Lake Drive, is very narrow at about 15 feet wide, and not capable of two-way traffic.

Additionally, there is a cliff on one side of the roadway that goes straight down to the water.

"The best thing they can do, barring rebuildibg the whole thing, is to at least add a guardrail, which would be safer if vehicles go off the road," the minutes added.

The town will enter into a contract with Atlas, which is based in CT.
