Guilford Police Urge Residents To Lock Their Cars Following Recent Incidents

There have been several reports of vehicles being entered around Guilford, according to police.

GUILFORD, CT — The Guilford Police Department is urging residents to lock their car doors following recent incidents around town.

"Yes, even on Easter morning, the car thieves were out looking for a new ride to steal," police wrote in a Facebook post along with security footage that appears to show someone entering a parked vehicle and pressing on the brakes. "Luckily the keys weren't left in this SUV, otherwise who knows where it would've ended up."

The video was from a home on Cornfield Lane, according to police, who said there were other reports of vehicles being entered on Sparrow Bush Lane and Union Street.

"We've found that when thieves encounter a locked car, they will generally just move on," police noted. The video appeared to show the same person trying to enter a nearby locked pickup truck before fleeing from camera view.

"So lock your cars, take your keys, and hide your stuff, every time!" police added. "Stay safe, and lock those cars!"
