Guilford Republican Primary: Amy Sullivan Seeks BOE Nomination

GUILFORD, CT — Guilford holds its Republican primary Tuesday, Sept. 14 for the Board of Education candidates. Registered Republican you may vote at regular polling places from 6 am until 8 pm.

Patch contacted primary candidates to answer questions about their campaigns.

Amy Sullivan, 46, is seeking the Republican Party nomination for Board of Education.

Experience: Current Vice Chair of Board of Education

The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:

We need to keep politics out of our schools and focus on educating ALL of our students in the high quality school system we have. I would continue my record of supporting students and staff and taxpayers.

Critical differences between me and my opponents:

We have the experience to manage the largest budget in Guilford and commit to fiscal responsibility · We will collaborate with all stakeholders to address student needs · We are leaders and champions of our public school system · We will serve Guilford with dignity, integrity, and and respect for others · We will provide a balanced approach to equity and social justice

Accomplishments:

I am seeking election for my third term. I am currently the Vice Chair of the Board.

I have a proven track record of working with my colleagues in a respectful and collaborative way- despite our differing political affiliation.

What else would you like voters to know about you?

I am a Republican and but this is not a one size fits all situation. I believe in fiscal responsibility and supporting the best education possible to all of our students. I want to be a role model for how to work with others who may not always agree with me.
