Guilford Residents File Lawsuit Regarding Proposed Propane Storage Facility
Residents are opposed to J.J. Sullivan's proposal to install the storage facility.

Some Guilford residents have filed a lawsuit against J.J. Sullivan Fuel Oil and the Guilford Planning and Zoning Commission regarding the company’s plan to build a bulk propane storage facility in town, the New Haven Register reports.
J.J. Sullivan has submitted a proposal to install two 30,000 gallon propane tanks as well as a retail center in Guilford.
Resident Annette Scharf and the West End Homeowners Association filed the suit on Oct. 2 claiming people whose land was adjacent to the proposed site had not been informed by either J.J. Sullivan or the commission and that no signs had been placed at the proposed site.

According to the paper, the Planning and Zoning Commission approved the amendment to zoning regulations that J.J. Sullivan applied for in August to allow bulk propane storage at the proposed site, saying they would allow bulk storage only by special permit.
Scharf and the West End Homeowners Association are asking for the reversal of the approved zoning regulations.Both parties are scheduled to appear in New Haven Superior Court on Nov. 11. the paper reports.

J.J. Sullivan has also proposed to install a bulk propane storage facility in North Branford, where residents recently presented a petition to the Town Council to stop the proposed project.
