GUILFORD, CT — The Guilford Board of Selectmen last week unanimously voted to approve a request of up to $65,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding for the planting of 100 trees in town.

The Tree Advisory Board is looking to plant the trees along Route 1, Route 77, Route 80 and Route 146, according to meeting minutes posted on the town website.

Shavaun Towers of the Tree Advisory Board said there are environmental reasons for the request, as well as a desire for general beautification. Around 300 trees per year are lost through Eversource removal or hazardous trees that need to be taken down, the meeting minutes noted.
