Good Morning, this is First Selectman Matt Hoey.

Last evening, Eversource officials notified town leadership
that more crews had been dispatched to Guilford, and will continue to work to
restore power. Approximately 600
customers have had their power restored, so we are beginning to see some
progress. I, along with our state
legislative delegation continue to put
pressure on Eversource to improve their responsiveness.

I implore all of you to please treat all wires as being
live, and do not cut trees, or any portion of a tree that may be on or caught
up in the wires. Do not assume that
these wires are de-energized.

When you are driving through town, do not remove, or drive
under or around, downed wires or cones in the road, and treat intersections
without functioning traffic lights as 4 way stops.

For those in need of water, the North Guilford Fire House
has a tanker with drinking water, and the hydrant at Baldwin Middle School
located at the bottom of the driveway is marked with a sign and equipped with
hose for drinking water. Water is also available at Fire Headquarters and
the Community Center. Please bring your own clean containers.

As of this morning, we have had approximately 45 residents
take advantage of the services at the Community Center, including showers and
charging electronic devices. The Community Center, at 32 Church Street, will be
open from 7 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on
weekends. You will be required to wear a mask,
and use the sign in sheet when entering and leaving the building. Please bring your own supplies.

The stump dump will be open Saturday and Sunday between 8:30
am and 3:00 pm.

Please continue to comply with all the Coronavirus safety
guidelines, social distancing, hand washing, and the wearing of a mask when you
cannot comply with the six-foot separation. As a result of your efforts we have
the lowest infection rates amongst our surrounding towns and there were no new
confirmed cases reported over the past week.

Thank you have a safe weekend.
