Guilford Takes First Step Toward a New Food Bank Building

The current facility doesn't have enough space to meet the current needs of the community.

The town of Guilford took its first step toward what it hopes will lead to a new building for the Guilford Food Bank.

The town has applied for a $500,000 state grant as the current facility on Stone House Lane is in need of repairs and is too small, the Guilford Courier reports. There is no timetable currently as to when the grant may be approved.

The 100-year-old building has had leaks recently and no longer has the space needed to accommodate the 250 families the Guilford Food Bank serves.
