Guilford Voters OK 2022-2023 $110M Budget, 2 Bond Questions

With a 12% voter turnout at Tuesday's referendum, the $109,913,544 budget passed as did bond questions for open space and infrastructure.

GUILFORD, CT — Voters approved the town's 2022-2023 budget at Tuesday's referendum. Town records show 12 percent of the near-16,000 registered voters went to the polls.

The 2022-2023 budget is $109,913,544. After factoring in state and local revenues and a substantial increase in the Grand List, this would result in a property tax increase of .63 mills or 1.94 percent, according to the town.

The budget vote was 1,272 in favor and 692 against.

There were also two bond questions.

The first was on Infrastructure Projects. The vote was 1,378 in favor and 589 opposed. The town noted that $3,885,391 be appropriated for replacement of the Guilford High School tennis courts, Baldwin kitchen renovations, Cox Library Renovations, a district wide playground at Guilford Lakes, renovations at 595 New England Road to consolidate the three Board of Education offices to one location, and design costs for future school projects.

Question 2

In a vote of 1,379 for and 574 opposed, voters Ok'd $10,000,000 for land acquisition as defined in the Town’s plan for open space and municipal land deeds.
