Guilford Weekend Guide: Oktoberfest, A Fall Artisan Market On The Green And Raptors At Dudley Farm

GUILFORD, CT — Saturday, Oct. 10, packs Guilford's Columbus Day weekend: live owls and hawks at Dudley Farm in the morning, an artisan market and downtown tasting walk on the Green at midday and an Oktoberfest with Austrian music into the evening.

• Raptors of Connecticut Dudley Farm, 2351 Durham Road — Saturday, Oct. 10, 11 a.m. to noon. Rose Crisci of Blue Moon Raptors, which rescues birds of prey, shows a great horned owl, an eastern screech owl, an American kestrel and a red-shouldered hawk in the Yellow Munger Barn; the program is free, but registration is requested.

• Fall Artisan Market and Guilford Flavors & Finds — Saturday, Oct. 10; market 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., tasting walk noon to 3 p.m. The free artisan market fills the Green, and for $10 a person, participating downtown businesses offer food and drink samples, demonstrations and in-store specials. • Oktoberfest — Saturday, Oct. 10, noon to 7 p.m. The Edelweiss Lodge's fundraiser for VFW Post 7666 pours German-style lagers from East Rock Brewing Co., with strolling accordionist Richard Cartier from noon to 2 p.m. and the Austrian Boys from 2 to 7 p.m.; admission is $20 for adults 21 and over (including a first drink when bought in advance), $5 for ages 15 to 20 and free for younger children.
